In sintesi

In some places relatively hard layers of snow are lying on a moist old snowpack. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly. Below approximately 1800 m medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large wet and gliding avalanches are possible.

Avalanche Activity

In some places relatively hard layers of snow are lying on a moist old snowpack. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly. Below approximately 1800 m medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large wet and gliding avalanches are possible.

Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack can still be released in some places in all aspects. This applies in particular on wind-loaded slopes above approximately 1800 m in all aspects. In particular on steep slopes avalanches can be triggered in the various wind slab layers and reach medium size. Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack are difficult to recognise. As a consequence of warming during the day individual medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses below approximately 1800 m.

Snowpack Structure

Towards its surface, the snowpack is hard. Towards its base, the snowpack is moist. The meteorological conditions will foster a gradual strengthening of the weak layers in all aspects.
