In sintesi

Glide-snow/moist loose-snow avalanches during the daytime

Weather Forecast

Quite sunny weather, dry all day long, limited visibility in afternoon regionally. In foehn lanes, very windy but not stormy. At 2000m: -4 to 1 degree. Moderate to brisk SW winds at high altitudes.

Tendency

No significant change expected before the next major precipitation

Snowpack Structure

At high altitudes a few cm of fresh snow is expected, to be deposited atop a well-consolidated old snowpack. On shady slopes, expansively metamorphosed, soft layers, otherwise often breakable wind crusts or melt-freeze crusts will be blanketed over. Bonding is generally good. On north-facing slopes at high altitudes, small-area, thin snowdrift accumulations atop soft layers could be prone to triggering. Below 1500m only little snow on the ground.

Avalanche Activity

Glide-snow/moist loose-snow avalanches during the daytime

Avalanche danger is low. Mostly small avalanches can be triggered by winter sports enthusiasts. Danger zones occur esp. on steep shady ridgeline slopes. Apart from the danger of being buried in snow masses, the risks of being swept along and forced to take a fall require adequate caution. On steep grass-covered slopes with sufficient snow on the ground or atop smooth ground, increasingly frequent small-to-medium glide-snow avalanches are possible.
