Avalanche Activity

GC 2/4. Patchy snow generally stable, isolated cornices fragile, wet snow instabilities may form in the sun. Low Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining patchy snow, on mainly North to East aspects above 900 metres, will continue to thaw and diminish at all levels. Stability will be generally good. Some small surface instabilities may develop in steeper locations exposed to the sun. Any remaining isolated cornices on these aspects will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain dry and clear with plenty of sunshine through the day. Strong South-Easterly winds this evening will slowly ease. The freezing level will remain above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: A mild, dry and bright day, with plenty of sunshine. The freezing level was way above the summits, though it felt cool in the moderate to fresh South-Easterly winds. Warmer at lower elevations. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining patchy snow is thawing and diminishing at all levels. Stability is generally good. The greatest cover is mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres, in gullies, on steep banks, and around coire rims and gully tops. A few drooping cornices were observed on higher summits on these aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
