Avalanche Activity

Due to rainfall, wet-snow slides possible at any time or day or night.

Due to daytime warming and solar radiation, likelihood of wet snow slides possible at any time of day or night. Runout zones should be avoided. Unfavorable conditions for backcountry tours.

Snowpack Structure

Rainfall is anticipated. Weather conditions are making the snowpack thoroughly wet, leading to a loss of firmness inside the snowpack.

Weather Forecast

On Wednesday, gray and wet weather anticipated. Dense clouds will accumulate. A bit of rainfall is anticipated, esp. in Upper Carinthia’s mountains. From Gurktal Alps eastewards it will remain mostly dry, a few sunny intervals can be expected, in places the summits will be in the clear. Southerly winds will be blowing at strong velocity at high altitudes reach 50 km/hr. At 1000m: +16 degrees; 2000m: +5 degrees. Source: GeoSphere Austria
