Avalanche Summary

Generally safe avalanche conditions exist. You might be able to trigger a small avalanche on slopes generally steeper than 35 degrees facing north and northeast at the highest elevations of the Grand and Battlement Mesas. Stick to wind-sheltered terrain if you are near the treeline and avoid traveling on steep slopes over terrain traps such as cliffs, rivers, or dense trees where a small avalanche can knock you over and take you for a dangerous ride.
