Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Rain at all elevations and storm force Southerly winds overnight. During the day the winds will ease and back to become Westerly, precipitation will reduce to give showers, which will turn to snow as the freezing level drops to around 700 metres by the end of the period. Observed Weather Influences: It was a wet day with snow falling only on the very highest summits. Strong South-South-Westerly winds. The freezing level dropped to around 1300 metres before rising again. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy remaining snowpack, mainly in hollows and around corrie rims, has good stability. New snow amounts have not been significant. The avalanche hazard is Low.
