A slight chance continues for large avalanches to be triggered in steep isolated areas that involve deeply buried weak layers of snow. As temperatures rise and potential rain weakens the snow surface, wet loose avalanche activity could release naturally this afternoon in steep terrain below 8500 feet. Roof slides will become possible this afternoon and evening.
Deep persistent slab avalanches could be triggered to the ground with depths to six feet. Although the chance of such an event being human triggered is becoming unlikely, they could still occur in isolated areas, if a particularly weak spot on a slope is impacted by the weight of a snow machine and rider or by a large cornice drop.

Snowfall with light accumulations is expected at the higher elevations where high temperatures are to reach the low thirties and winds are to be light. At low elevations, minimal precipitation is expected to fall primarily as flurries that could also fall as light rain at times where temperatures could reach the upper thirties. The general avalanche in the Tetons will be LOW at all elevations in the morning and will increase to MODERATE at the low elevations where warming and potential rain will allow for the possibility of wet slides similar to today’s events. In the Southwest Trails and Togwotee Pass areas, the danger will be MODERATE all day as the unlikely but possible potential for deep slab avalanches continues in higher terrain and wet slide activity will again become possible at lower terrain in the afternoon.
