Conditions are generally stable, and large avalanches are unlikely. Watch for pockets of wind-drifted snow in extreme terrain. Today's direct or muted sunshine and warmer temperatures could cause some wet, loose avalanches to release on their own—rocky slopes sheltered from the wind are most likely to produce these small avalanches. 

Conditions are generally stable, and avalanches are unlikely. However, if you’re skiing or riding in steep terrain, there are a few things to keep in mind:

• Wet Snow: Cool temperatures this morning will help prevent any significant wet snow issues. However, as the day warms up, the risk of triggering small wet loose slides increases. These slides are most likely to occur on slopes basking in unobscured sunlight, especially in rocky, cliffed terrain. Yesterday, near Cobb Mountain, we observed several small wet loose/sun-induced avalanches initiating in rocky, sun-drenched cliff bands. In the Sawtooths, professionals noted similar activity in steep, south-facing terrain. Consider seeking cooler slopes if you encounter a wet, mushy snowpack, and pay attention to what's above you when traveling below very steep, sunny slopes.
• Dry Snow: In extreme terrain, you may find sensitive pockets of wind-drifted snow.
• Cornices: Cornices have grown significantly in recent weeks and are now heavily overhanging. Always give them space when traveling along ridgelines.

Make a plan, carry avalanche rescue gear, and travel with a skilled partner for a successful day in the mountains. Be aware of changing conditions and adjust your plans as needed. Today's strong sun will be the biggest player in driving changing conditions; build bigger margins while traveling on or below sun-drenched slopes or shady lower and middle elevation terrain.
