On Thursday, I found a midstorm instability down 25 - 30 cm. Hand sheer tests were releasing easily on this layer (east and southeast aspect near treeline/above treeline). I also got one collapse in the recent storm snow when I was stomping on a convex roll. Keep storm slabs on the radar for Friday. Be cautious in steep terrain, especially on the big convex rolls. Hedge your bets by sticking to more planar or low angle terrain. As always, remember cracking, collapsing, and recent avalanches are good indicators of unstable snow. If you see these signs, moving to more conservative terrain is a good choice. This problem will become more stubborn with time and as the snow settles.
Dry loose avalanches are also possible.
