The more recent wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence above approximately 2200 m.
The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in high Alpine regions. At high altitude the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent.
As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind, small wind slabs will form. Snow depths vary greatly at intermediate and high altitudes, depending on the infuence of the wind. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes a little snow is lying.
