Forecast Snow Stability: The wet and patchy snow cover will become firmer overnight and will be generally well bonded and stable. The greatest accumulations of snow will remain on North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be fresh Westerlies overnight. Around dawn the wind will veer to the South-South-West and gain in strength through the daytime becoming gale force by mid afternoon. The freezing level will be around 600 metres overnight, around dawn it will rise and remain above the summits for the rest of the day. It will be dry overnight and during the day. Observed Weather Influences: A wet and overcast day with a cloud base around 800 metres. Initially rain at all levels turned to sleet on the highest summits later in the afternoon. The winds were gale force South-Westerlies. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining, patchy snow cover is wet and generally stable. The greatest accumulations are mainly on North-East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
