At Upper and Mid elevations, snow came with cooling temperatures and should adhere well to old snow surfaces. However, rapidly accumulating snow will increase the chance of triggering isolated pockets of soft slabs to 12 inches deep in steep areas at higher elevations. At low elevations heavy rain on a weak, isothermal snowpack have increased the possibility of triggering wet-loose slides.

Snow showers with light accumulations are expected over the mountains Friday night and Saturday. Mountain morning low temperatures will be in the upper teens then rise to thirty degrees during the day. Winds will be westerly at ten miles per hour. Light rain is expected at lower elevations.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low Saturday morning. The hazard will increase to Moderate on slopes above 8500 that experience periods of sunshine. Travelers on those heated slopes will be able to easily trigger wet-loose slides. Chutes and gullies where surface slides accumulate debris should be avoided.
