Persistent slabs lie upon weak snow surfaces formed during a long period of little to no snow in January. These slabs lie in very steep terrain above 7500 feet and could have depths to three feet.

Suspect areas include typical avalanche starting zones and rocky areas above 7500 that are very steep.
