In sintesi

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Three to five inches of new snow that began warm and cooled should bond well to the old surface, cool the snowpack and reduce the chance of wet loose slides above 9000 feet. Below that, the possibility of triggering dangerous wet-loose slides in steep areas continues.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Snow levels will drop from 10,000 feet today to the valley floor by this evening. Snow is expected through Thursday evening. Winds will be southwesterly and strong tonight and then westerly Thursday at thirty mile per hour averages with higher gusts.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS: The General Avalanche Hazard will fall overnight at Mid and Upper elevations although pockets of soft slabs may develop in lee areas near higher ridgecrests. Cooling will help strengthen the snowpack but at lower elevations rain may continue to rot the snow and the Hazard will remain at CONSIDERABE.
