In sintesi

At the mid and upper elevations old dense slabs 1 to 3 feet in depth and pockets of new soft slab up to 10 inches in depth exist in steep wind loaded starting zones and cliff areas. These older slabs lie upon a weak layer of buried surface hoar and a faceted October snowpack. As these dense slabs become harder to trigger skiers or riders may cross them multiple times and/or get further out onto them before they release. At the lower elevations the snowpack is shallow and avalanches are unlikely.
