Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger avalanches in the storm snow or slides that break on the old snow surface. Slopes where the storm snow is drifted into thicker slabs will be the most dangerous. Look for and avoid steep, drifted slopes that face northwest through east to south. Cracking in the storm snow and audible collapses are indications to avoid steep slopes. Look for slopes less than about 35 degrees without steep slopes above as a safer option.
