In sintesi

A winter storm continues to bring heavy snow and high winds to the forecast region.  Dangerous avalanche conditions are expected today where slabs of new snow have formed on steep slopes.  Make a plan with conservative terrain choices to deal with today's avalanche problem.

    Triggering an avalanche could occur on a variety of steep slopes today.  Slopes below ridges, in gully features, and below cornices will be filling in with deep wind drifted snow.  Steep slopes in more wind protected areas will have storm slabs that have built over the last 2 day storm.  Recent avalanches and any snow surface cracking will indicate unstable snow.

    Potential avalanche size is expected to increase today as this storm brings more snow and dropping snow levels.  Density changes could exist within the storm snow as temperatures and snow levels bounced around yesterday with less dense snow below heavier snow.  Large cornices exist over many slopes where deep slabs of wind blown snow have formed and will continue to be fragile today.  Have a plan to use less steep non-avalanche terrain if you see signs of unstable snow while travelling in the backcountry.  Avoid run out zones below steep avalanche terrain and areas below wind loaded slopes with large cornices overhead.

Deep, open holes, open creeks, and ponded water persist around the forecast area. These deep holes and open creek areas are especially prominent below 8,000' in low lying areas, but have been observed at higher elevations.
