The weather conditions will facilitate a strengthening of the near-surface layers during the night. Towards its surface, the snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise from early morning to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes at low and intermediate altitudes. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. In places that are protected from the wind in all altitude zones a lot of snow is lying for the time of year. In the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Especially steep shady slopes high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Weak layers exist in the snowpack.

On very steep sunny slopes and at low and intermediate altitudes medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation, especially at the base of rock walls. Below approximately 2600 m moist avalanches can penetrate even deep layers and reach quite a large size. Especially steep shady slopes high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released especially by large additional loads. Backcountry tours should be started and concluded early. Very early morning: There is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
