Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of unstable windslab will remain. Although not extensive, these will be poorly bonded and will tend to be found on sheltered West to North aspects above 800 metres. There will be some slow consolidation during the afternoon. On other aspects, and in wind exposed locations, the snowpack will tend to be firm and generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: A cloudy day with a few snow showers possible. Gale force Easterly winds are expected. The freezing level will creep upward to around 1000 metres by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: It was a cold day with strong South-Easterly winds. The freezing level was around 500 metres. After some overnight snow showers on the hills it was a generally dry day. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of fresh unstable windslab were deposited in sheltered locations on mainly West to North aspects above about 800 metres. Although these areas are not extensive they tend to be poorly bonded. On other aspects, and locations which caught the wind, the snowpack tends to be scoured, firm and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
