Forecast Snow Stability: During the day some unstable windslab will be deposited in wind-sheltered areas, mainly on West to North aspects above 900 metres. Existing, generally localised, cold-induced instabilities will persist in the snowpack, mainly on West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Shaded areas will be most affected. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be light to moderate Westerly at first, then veering overnight to be Easterly by dawn. During the morning they will strengthen to moderate to strong South-Easterly. It is expected to remain dry, with the freezing level around 300 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It was a bright dry day with light mainly Westerly winds. It was cold, especially in the shade, with summit air temperature rising to -6C. ObservedSnowStability: Cold-induced weaknesses are present in the snowpack, mainly on West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. These are generally localised, and shaded areas are most affected. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
