- Above 2,000 m
The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs formed during the snowfall represent the main danger.
The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs formed during the snowfall represent the main danger.
On steep slopes and on wind-loaded slopes the avalanche situation is dangerous. Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released in deep layers reach medium size especially on steep north, northwest and northeast facing slopes. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust only at high altitudes and will soften during the day.
Weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes. In addition the danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase as the day progresses.
