It was a little warmer last night. Temperatures will rise into the 30's and 40's and there will be periods of sunshine. The wet snow avalanche hazard will increase as the day progresses. Monitor conditions for increasing wet snow hazards and avoid steep slopes if the snow softens and becomes unstable. Also at the highest elevations it may still be possible to find an isolated pocket of wind slab up to a foot deep. Small slides can be dangerous in cliff areas, steep chutes, and other extreme terrain features. In those areas carefully assess the snowpack and terrain with respect to the potential consequences of being caught and carried in a small avalanche.

A brief period of dry weather will occur under a transitory high-pressure ridge tonight and Saturday morning. The next system approaches later in the day and will bring widespread snow showers to the region. Skies will be mostly clear overnight and into the morning hours. Clouds will increase during the day. Temperatures will be in the 20’s tonight and in the 30’s on Saturday. Southwest winds will be light to moderate this evening and then increase during the day.The general avalanche hazard will be low. A solid freeze is expected overnight. Cooler temperatures and increasing clouds during the day will help to mitigate the wet snow avalanche hazard.
