SC 03.02 Patchy, thawing snow will be well bonded and stable. Largest areas on N to E aspects above 900m Avalanche hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The remaining patchy snow will continue to slowly thaw but will remain well bonded and stable. Largest amounts will be encountered in steep, wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Elsewhere there will be very small patches of snow or bare ground. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Persistent light rain throughout the period, only turning to sleet and then snow on the highest summits at the end of the day. Strong West-South-Westerly winds overnight, increasing to gale force South-Westerly from mid-morning. The freezing level will lower to around 1300 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: An increasingly cloudy morning with light precipitation falling as rain at all levels. Winds were generally fresh Westerly. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining patchy snow is slowly thawing but remains well bonded and stable. Greatest amounts are to be found in steep, wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Small pockets of soft, wet snow are also present on some East to South aspects above 900 metres. Elsewhere the ground is bare. The avalanche hazard is Low.
