Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will persist in wind sheltered locations on North-East through East to South aspects above 850 metres. Deepest accumulations will be encountered in wind sheltered scarp slopes, gully tops and around corrie rims. Isolated deep deposits will also be found on other aspects and at lower levels. Any exposed slope will be firm and icy. Cornices will be fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It is expected to be a dry day. Remaining cold, freezing at all levels. Fresh winds throughout, mostly North-West. Observed Weather Influences: A bright start with broken summit cloud developing late morning. Very cold on the hills with a temperature of -9 degrees celsius in the morning recorded at 900 metres. Winds were fresh in strength, predominantly from the North-West. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of windslab are to be found on North-East through East to South aspects above 850 metres. Steep, wind sheltered features such as scarp slopes, corrie rims and gully tops are most affected. Isolated deeper deposits are also found on other aspects and at lower levels with any exposed areas very firm and icy. Cornices are fragile. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
