Dry slab avalanches require caution.
Dry slab avalanches require caution.
As a consequence of a moderate to strong northeasterly wind, avalanche prone wind slabs formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as above approximately 2000 m. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant,. Ski touring and other off-piste activities, including snowshoe hiking, call for careful route selection.
Over a wide area over a wide area 20 to 30 cm of snow has fallen since Sunday above approximately 1500 m. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack. Over a wide area wind slabs are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs will become increasingly prone to triggering above approximately 2000 m.
