SC 25.01.23 Soft well bonded snowpack, becoming firmer later in day. Remaining cornices prone to collapse. Avalanche hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to thaw overnight but will remain generally well bonded. Cover will be soft at lower levels but will become firmer around the summits. Greatest cover will be found in North to East facing corries and on higher plateau areas. Any remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will slowly drop to around 900 metres by morning. Overnight rain at all levels will be followed by very light snowfall during the day. Winds will be strong, initially from the West in the morning, veering to the North-West in the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A bright day with cloud around the tops. The freezing level was well above the summits. Winds were light to fresh from the North-West. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack continues to thaw and is soft but well bonded. Cover is becoming more broken with greatest amounts above 900 metres on North through East to South aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
