CM for 13/04/23 Mod hazard. New weak windslab SW through W to NW aspects above 900m. Weak cornices.

Forecast Snow Stability: Poorer stability overnight on North to North-East aspects above 1000 metres. New marginally bonded windslab will develop on steep South-West through West to North-West aspects above 900 metres. Snow on all other aspects expected to show early consolidation by the end of the day. Weak cornices will remain over steepest North to North-East aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong Easterly winds veering Westerly and becoming light later. Snow showers throughout. Cold overnight but temperatures easing progressively during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Persistent snow showers. Cold. Strong South-Westerly winds backing South-Easterly later. ObservedSnowStability: Poor stability on steep North to East aspects above 950 metres. Dry slab avalanche activity on North aspect at 1050 metres at midday. Lee slope scouring also noted but was confined to selected gully tops. New weak cornice development over steeper lee slopes. Better stability at lower elevations where early consolidation noted in most recent snow. Windward slopes heavily scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
