In sintesi

In very isolated cases weak layers exist deep in the old snowpack on very steep shady slopes.

Problemi valanghivi

  • Persistent weak layers

    • Above 2,200 m

Avalanche Activity

In very isolated cases weak layers exist deep in the old snowpack on very steep shady slopes.

Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack on near-ridge shady slopes. Weak layers in the lower part of the snowpack can be released in very isolated cases by people here.

Snowpack Structure

The spring-like weather conditions gave rise to significant consolidation of the snowpack in particular on steep sunny slopes below approximately 2200 m. The high temperatures gave rise to settling of the snowpack in some cases also on shady slopes below approximately 2200 m. As a consequence of rising temperatures and partly cloudy skies a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: The sometimes storm force wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. In all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
