The fresh snow as well as the sometimes large wind slabs can be released easily or naturally in particular on steep north facing slopes and generally above the tree line. On steep shady slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain dry avalanches are possible at any time, even large ones.
The snowpack will become in most cases subject to considerable local variations. The various wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack.
The conditions are unfavourable. The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.
