In sintesi

Three to five inches of new snow fell yesterday in the mountains accompanied by moderate west-southwest winds. The new snow fell on firm crusts on most aspects with the exception of high north aspects where it accumulated on faceted snow in places. Look out for thin, soft wind slabs, up to 10" thick, in lee areas near ridges at higher elevations. These isolated terrain features hold the avalanche hazard today. The shallow, early season snowpack continues to hide obstacles.

Avalanche Discussion

Light snow showers are expected with accumulations in the trace to 1” range. Winds will be out of the west at 15-20 mph. Skies will remain cloudy. Ridgetop temperatures will be in the high teens to low twenties.Isolated pockets of shallow wind slab could form in the highest elevations. Elsewhere there is not enough new snow to create slabs of any significance. With relatively cool temperatures and minimal new loading from either wind or new snowfall, expect the avalanche danger to remain Low.
