GC 19/12 Localised windslab mainly on NE to SE aspects above 900m with fragile cornice forming on similar aspects. Av haz Moderate.

Forecast Snow Stability: Strong winds and new snow will form localised deposits of windslab mainly on North-East to South-Easterly aspects above 900 metres. Areas mostly affected will be sheltered gullies, scarp slopes and steep coire headwalls. Where these new deposits achieve depth they will be moderately bonded. New fragile cornices will start to develop above sheltered aspects. Elsewhere, new snow accumulations will be lying on bare ground and generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Wintry showers through Wednesday night and during the morning with some risk of hail and thunder, easing during the afternoon. Freezing level around 400 metres with new snow accumulations falling mainly above this altitude. Strong winds from the West-North-Westerly direction. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight and during this morning mild conditions and strong Westerly winds continued to affect the area. Around midday the freezing level lowered to around 1100 metres and precipitation gave a light dusting of new snow on the highest summits. ObservedSnowStability: A very light dusting of new snow arrived around midday accumulations are not deep or extensive. The remaining patches of snow that exist in the highest sheltered corries and gullies are consolidating and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
