Avalanche Activity

The more recent wind slabs represent the main danger.

The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the field, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality. The wind slabs can still be released in some cases above approximately 2500 m, caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

In all regions only a little snow is now lying. Above approximately 2400 m snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Some snow will fall until midday. This applies in particular above approximately 1400 m in the regions that are exposed to the foehn wind.
