Avalanche Activity

Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack. Weak layers in the old snowpack are difficult to recognise.

Avalanches can be released in deeper layers, in particular by large additional loads. These can reach medium size. Weak layers in the old snowpack are difficult to recognise. At low and intermediate altitudes thus far only a little snow is lying. Watch out for the numerous rocks hidden by the little recent snow.

Snowpack Structure

2 to 5 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Tuesday above approximately 1800 m. Towards its surface, the snowpack is moist, in particular below approximately 2100 m. In some places new snow is lying on a hard crust. At low altitude less snow than usual is lying. Watch out for the numerous rocks hidden by the little recent snow.
