New snow and wet snow represent the main danger.
30 to 50 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Tuesday above approximately 2200 m. The fresh snow of the last few days as well as the wind slabs formed by the northeasterly wind can be released easily or naturally above approximately 2300 m. In particular on steep slopes numerous medium-sized and large moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming. Avalanches can in isolated cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach large size in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation.
The sleet gave rise to extreme moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack at elevated altitudes. Below approximately 2000 m a little snow is lying.
