Avalanche Activity

Large quantities of fresh snow and the wind-drifted snow of the last two days can be released easily or naturally in all aspects above the tree line.

Avalanches are possible, even large ones in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Experience in the assessment of avalanche danger is advisable.

Snowpack Structure

50 to 100 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1500 m. New snow to above 600 m. The new snow and wind slabs remain in some cases prone to triggering in all aspects. The wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack.

Tendency

In some localities light snowfall at intermediate altitudes. The weather conditions will facilitate a gradual change towards better conditions.
