Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snow fresh snow will consolidate gradually with the fluctuating temperatures. Localised instabilities will be present mainly on steep North, North-East and East aspects above 1000m. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be some light snow showers above 1000 metres overnight followed by a dry day on Thursday. The freezing level will gradually lower to around 900m. Winds will reduce overnight and become light North-Easterly. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a windy day with heavy showers. The freezing level lowered to around 800 metres early morning and has gradually risen above the summits during the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh areas of unstable windslab have formed in sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations are in steep North, North-East and East aspects above 900m. Instabilities exist mainly where this fresh snow overlies older snow. Wet snow instabilities started to develop during the afternoon as the freezing level rose. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
