Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will continue to develop. Greatest accumulations will be on North to East aspects above 900 metres. North-West and South-East aspects will also be affected. Fragile cornices will build above these aspects. Other aspects will be scoured and generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong West-South-West winds will ease for a time in the early morning, then back Southerly and become strong again during the day. Showers in the evening and during the day falling as snow above around 700 metres. The freezing level will be around 800 metres, rising briefly to 1000 metres in the morning. Observed Weather Influences: There were very strong West-South-Westerly winds and showers falling as snow above around 600 metres. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of fresh unstable windslab are present with greatest accumulations on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Fragile cornices are present above these aspects. The older snowpack is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
