New snow and wind slabs at elevated altitudes.
New snow and wind slabs at elevated altitudes.
Above approximately 2000 m snow fell during the night. The wind was moderate to strong over a wide area. In the last few days mostly small wind slabs formed in particular in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Fresh wind slabs can in some cases be released easily at their margins. New snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. There is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
The new snow is lying on a crust. In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying.
The avalanche danger will persist.
