In sintesi

Weak layers near the ground continue to be a concern. You can avoid triggering these weak layers by staying off of very steep slopes (over ~35 degrees). Slopes that end in a gully or other terrain trap are most always worth avoiding due to the high consequences of triggering an avalanche. Remember to travel one at a time and keep eyes on your party when riding on or near any suspect slope.

Avalanche Discussion

High pressure and eleven days without snowfall have left most recent snow surfaces well tracked. While the lack of new snow may give the appearance of stability, it does not eliminate avalanche concerns. In the Togwotee area, deep persistent weak layers common to the high, thin, and cold snowpack remain present. Although avalanche activity has been quiet recently, these layers continue to warrant caution.

Human-triggered avalanches remain possible, particularly on steep slopes over 35 degrees on shaded, predominantly northerly aspects where these weak layers are most likely to persist. Careful snowpack evaluation, conservative terrain choices, and thoughtful group management are essential.

Remember that even small avalanches can have serious consequences when triggered above terrain traps. The tragic accident in La Barge Creek is a sobering reminder to remain vigilant in avalanche terrain. The preliminary report is available for more info.
