General Announcements

This forecast is from the U.S.D.A. Forest Service, which is solely responsible for its content. This forecast describes general avalanche conditions and local variations always occur.

Special Announcement

Now that there is snow on the ground, I'll be doing intermittent forecast updates through November.

Snow and Weather

We've had a number of snow storms since October 22nd. Current total snow depths as of Nov 6th are 10 to 20" above about 9000'. The snow is fairly dense which is great for starting a base. The snowpack is currently stable and there is very little avalanche danger. The concern is that if the storms don't continue, the snow that is on the ground will deteriorate into loose sugar which can become a weak layer once it is buried. As for now, all is good and there is another storm that is shaping up for Tuesday night into Wednesday that may bring another 8 to 12 inches of snow.
