Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a large and dangerous avalanche on most slopes that face northwest to east through southeast. The most dangerous slopes are where recent wind drifted additional snow onto the lee sides of ridgelines creating two to four-foot thick slabs of cohesive snow that rest on top of weak snow. You might be able to travel on a slope several times before you affect the buried weak snow and trigger an avalanche so be aware that tracks on a slope don't mean that it is safe to travel on. Safer travel options exist by sticking to south, southwest, or west-facing slopes or by sticking to slopes less than around 30 degrees when traveling on aspects of concern.
