Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on steep slopes where you find more than about a foot of recent snow sitting over older, weaker snow. Most avalanches will be small, but at the highest elevations become large enough to bury you. You can find safer travel options by sticking to areas without those characteristics. Friday's storm will allow you to find more slopes with tricky amounts of recent snow.
