Moist slab avalanches are possible from the morning. In addition on southeast, south and west facing slopes, some small and medium-sized slab avalanches are possible. Areas where the snow cover is rather shallow where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially unfavourable.
As the wind picks up, the likelihood of moist slab avalanches being released will increase quickly in particular on very steep slopes above approximately 1900 m. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night and will already soften in the late morning. On very steep northwest, north and east facing slopes and above approximately 1900 m individual small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist slab avalanches are possible as a consequence of the strong westerly wind.
The old snowpack consists of rounded crystals. The weather conditions gave rise to significant softening of the snowpack in all aspects below approximately 1800 m. These conditions will cause a very rapid rise in the danger of moist avalanches in particular above approximately 1800 m.
