Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to thaw. There will be some slight stabilisation overnight. However, wet snow instabilities will remain, these mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Some substantial cornices exist above these aspects, and these will remain prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: A few showers of rain or wet snow are expected overnight. The freezing level will be about 1200 metres. During the day the freezing level will rise well above the summits and rain will fall at all levels. Observed Weather Influences: There were periods of heavy precipitation overnight and through the day. Overnight it fell as snow above about 800 metres,. This rose to about 1050 metres during the day as the freezing level rose to around 1250 metres. Strong winds were from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: Overnight areas of fresh windslab were deposited on mainly North to East aspects above 900 metres. This was going through a period of instability as the freezing level rose and the snowpack became wet. Cornices above these aspects are prone to collapse. Stability on other aspects was better. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
