Forecast Snow Stability: Over inland mountain ranges, isolated fresh windslab deposits will continue to develop on South-West, West and North-West aspects above 800 metres. Elsewhere the snowpack will be firm and stable with any new snow not expected to be significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Forecast Weather Influences: Dry overnight with light snow expected during the daytime. Very strong Easterly winds. The freezing level will be 350 metres initially, then slowly rise through the daytime to reach 500 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Gale force Easterly winds with the freezing level around 400 metres. Snow showers over inland ranges, drier towards coastal mountains. ObservedSnowStability: A thin covering of fresh snow down to 350 metres over inland ranges, where isolated shallow windslab deposits are developing on South-West, West and North-West aspects above 800 metres. Elsewhere the snowpack is firm and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
