Avalanche Activity

The weather will be mild. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.

As a consequence of warming and solar radiation, the natural avalanche activity will gradually increase. The avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack. Gliding avalanches can also occur. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular at the base of rock walls, and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. The wind slabs remain in some cases prone to triggering in particular on steep shady slopes and generally at elevated altitudes.
