CM for 17/12/22: New weak windslab N to E aspects above 850m. New weak cornices development above these aspects. Moderate Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Localised new snow instabilities will exist in steep gully flanks and exits above 850 metres, these on North through to Easterly aspects. Further cornice development will also occur around coire rims above these locations. Good stability on all wind scoured aspects and ridges. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain cold with the Freezing Level staying below 600 metres. Light snow showers will continue to affect the area, with fresh to moderate South-Westerly winds throughout. Observed Weather Influences: Some limited overnight snow showers affected the area. It has been a cold and overcast day, the few overnight showers prolonged to later in the day. The winds have been light, mainly South-South-Easterly. ObservedSnowStability: New snowpack weaknesses were noted in localised deposits of fresh snow above 700 metres, these on mainly North through to Easterly aspects. Whilst a light general cover of fresh soft snow exists at all elevations, accumulations to date, have yet to achieve any significant depths. Some small new weak cornice development noted around coire rims above these aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
