Avalanche Activity

The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night.

Little snow fell in the last few days. As a consequence of a moderate to strong northwesterly wind, mostly small wind slabs will form in the course of the day in particular adjacent to ridgelines. They are to be found in particular in steep terrain at elevated altitudes. These are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular in terrain where there is a danger of falling. In particular transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially unfavourable. The danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase but remain within the current danger level.

Snowpack Structure

Evening and night: Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be barely evident. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night. Less snow than usual is lying. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. The strong wind has transported the new snow significantly.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.
