The fresh snow of last week and the wind slabs to be found above all adjacent to risgelines and in gullies and bowls can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases. In particular on wind-loaded slopes small and medium-sized avalanches are possible.

In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. The wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and rain up to approximately 1900 m a crust formed on the surface on Monday. In many places there is a danger of falling on the icy crust. Stability tests and field observations show that the stability of the snowpack varies greatly within a small area. Weak layers exist deep in the snowpack in particular at high altitude.
