Problemi valanghivi

  • Wet snow

    • Above 2,000 m
  • Wind slab

    • Above 2,300 m

Avalanche Activity

Wet snow represents the main danger. Wind slabs require caution.

In some localities up to 5 cm of snow will fall on Friday above approximately 2200 m. Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of the precipitation. In some places avalanches can penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack. Most and wet avalanches can be released by small loads. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are, however, further possible. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, precarious wind slabs formed in the last two days in particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as above approximately 2300 m. The fresh wind slabs can be released even by a single winter sport participant above approximately 2300 m.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is moist. Over a wide area new snow is lying on old snow containing large grains. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack.
